Signal Power Reinforcement | Philadelphia, pa

Meliora Design is supporting Gannett Fleming by providing Structural
Engineering and site investigations for upgrading SEPTA’s Signal Power system and adding solar panels to existing and new infrastructure.

The purpose of this project is to modernize and increase the resiliency of SEPTA’s signal power supply system including the investigation and development of alternate methods of providing signal power (solar). In addition to modernization of the signal power system, the plan is to relocate any remaining aerial lines onto catenary structures, eliminating and removing wood poles, unused or abandoned cables, cases, and related apparatus.

The project encompasses nearly the entire SEPTA regional rail system, including branches to the Airport, Media/Elwyn, Norristown, Chestnut Hill West, Chestnut Hill East, West Trenton, Warminster and Doylestown, and the main line from KAY and Arsenal Interlocking’s near 30th Street Station to Lansdale, comprising approximately 100 miles.
