Philadelphia International Airport

Crew Elevator | Philadelphia, PA

As a subconsultant to BKP, Meliora provided construction documents for installation of a new crew elevator in the existing terminal at the Philadelphia International Airport to allow better accessibility for flight crews.

The design required modifications to the existing terminal framing and pile supported slab, as well as extensive coordination with all of the existing utilities and duct banks. The new foundations, elevator pit, and shaft walls were designed with close coordination with the architectural layouts and the existing conditions. The arrival floor framing was modified and supplemented to allow new slab penetration for the new elevator.

The design was completed to allow the construction to occur in an in-service airline terminal while minimizing passenger inconveniences.
