Michael Ryan, PE

Civil and Water Resources Engineer

Michael’s educational and professional backgrounds are compelling and add to his value at Meliora, where he’s worked since 2019. For starters, he has two seemingly disparate undergraduate degrees from Lafayette College: a B.S. in civil engineering and the other a B.A. in music. Professionally, he has glimpsed the client/owner perspective through the lens of both the public and private sectors while working at PennDOT, the Schuylkill County Conservation District, and a private consulting firm with municipal engineering contracts.

His experience with permitting for agencies within and outside of Philadelphia lends itself to a wide variety of projects. Adept with state-of-the-industry design and modeling software programs, Michael’s work assignments include planning, design, documentation, and construction administration for projects whose scope include site layout and grading, right-of-way and streetscape improvements, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, and utilities.

In addition to two bachelor’s degrees, Michael also earned a master’s degree in water resources and environmental engineering at Villanova University. As one might guess from his music degree, he’s not all work and no play. When not wearing his civil engineering hat, Michael plays percussion with bands and orchestras across the state and helps teach and write for school band programs. The Pottsville native also likes playing tennis, longboarding, and is a fan of felines.
