Responding to a Changing Climate with Resilient Infrastructure: Radnor Township and Meliora’s Michael Busch Win both Best Public Project and Audience Choice Awards at Stormwater Innovation Showcase
Congratulations to Radnor Township (Radnor) and Meliora’s Michael Busch on winning the Public Projects Award and Audience Choice Award at the first Green Stormwater Infrastructure Projects & Innovation Showcase hosted by the Sustainable Business Network. Michael presented “South Devon Area Flood Reduction: Revitalizing a Wooded Wetland Preserve in Radnor.”
Radnor engaged Meliora to find solutions to reduce urban flooding and improve stormwater. Urban flooding is worsening as rainfall intensity increases with climate change. The resilient (flexible and adaptable to change) design also improved an existing park and created a wooded wetland system along a popular community trail while supporting Radnor's MS4 goals.
This $4 million project received nearly one million dollars in construction funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Growing Greener Plus Grant program and the National Fish and Wildlife Watershed Conservation Fund.
