"Gateway to Play" Celebration at FDR Park

On June 14, Meliora Design joined the “Gateway to Play” Celebration and ribbon cutting in FDR Park hosted by the Fairmount Park Conservancy.

This opening marked the reveal of three projects, collectively dubbed the “Gateway Phase.” The Gateway Phase consisted of the Welcome Center, the Gateway Plaza and a Site/Utility package.

  • The Gateway Plaza, a $250 million project, provides a new entrance to the park off the corner of Broad and Pattison. It features playgrounds and a new FDR statue.

  • The Welcome Center repurposed an old stablehouse and existing bioswale behind the building.

  • The Site Civil package provided an innovative stormwaterr management system that interconnects all three projects in the Gateway Phase to each other.

Meliora Design also collaborated on the Anna D. Verna playground, which opened in 2023.
