Rodney Reservoir Park

Wilmington, DE

Meliora was engaged by Hinge Collective to provide civil engineering, water resources planning and grant recommendations for the Rodney Reservoir Park in Wilmington, Delaware. The park, located at a city highpoint, was once a reservoir and public park, but was closed in the 1990s due to safety concerns. The City engaged the design team, led by Hinge Collective, to create a plan for the park based on community input.

During the Rodney Reservoir Park planning, Meliora provided viewshed analyses, cut/fill evaluations, stormwater management design options and grant funding opportunities. A public park plan was developed that includes high points for views, open lawn space, a pavilion, meadows, forest, walking paths and rain gardens to manage stormwater runoff . Immediately upon completion of the plan the design team was engaged in the park design.

Meliora also provided civil site and stormwater design for Rodney Reservoir Park. The park received a 2024 National Fish and Wildlife Foundation Delaware Watershed Conservation Fund grant award of $500,000 to improve water quality and access to nature.
