Drexel University

Health Sciences Building | Philadelphia, PA

When it opened in September 2022, Drexel University’s new Health Sciences Building at 36th and Filbert Streets united the College of Nursing and Health Professions, the College of Medicine, and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Professional Studies under one roof for the first time.

The 12-story, 460,000-square-foot building features modern instructional and simulation spaces, anatomy labs, standardized patient care rooms, creative arts therapy and physical therapy research, and teaching spaces. There are also group-learning areas, student lounges, flex spaces, and a café on the ground floor.

As the latest addition to the uCity Square Innovation district, the building will further strengthen Drexel’s relationships with its West Philadelphia neighbors, such as the adjacent Samuel Powel Elementary School and the Science Leadership Academy Middle School, for which Meliora also provided civil engineering and permitting services.
